Privacy policy
Last updated November 2026.
Soothetube (soothe.tube) is a small, independent site for sharing soothing videos. This page explains what information we collect, why, and who else is involved. We don’t run advertising and we don’t sell your data. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool to understand how the site is used (see below). If anything changes, we’ll update this page first.
Information you give us
If you use the submit a video form or the contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you enter. We use these only to review your submission or respond to you. Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our hosting provider, and emailed to us. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
Spam protection (reCAPTCHA)
Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA sets cookies and collects hardware and software information for this purpose. Its use is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Comments
Comments on posts are powered by FastComments, a third-party service. Any name and comment you post are handled by FastComments, which may set cookies and collect usage information. See the FastComments privacy information.
Analytics
We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to see which pages are visited. It sets no cookies, collects only anonymous, aggregated data, and doesn’t track you across sites or build a profile of you. See GoatCounter’s privacy policy.
Embedded videos
Videos are embedded using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which avoids setting cookies until you choose to play a video. Once you play one, YouTube’s own terms and privacy practices apply.
Cookies and local storage
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies — our analytics (above) is cookieless. Your light/dark theme preference, your watch history and the videos you like are stored locally in your browser (in local storage and your browser’s built-in database). This stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it anytime — from your browser, or from the History page. The third-party services above (reCAPTCHA, FastComments and, once you play a video, YouTube) may set their own cookies as described in their policies. If we introduce advertising in future, we’ll update this policy before doing so.
